SA town offers two sites for nuclear waste

Locals in Kimba, on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, will begin speaking with federal government representatives this week about two proposed sites for a nuclear waste dump.

Resources Minister Matt Canavan says two landowners have volunteered sites for a national facility and representatives from the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science will begin sourcing community feedback this week.

The discussions will be part of a 90-day consultation period that will also include a community poll conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission.
