And tragedy struck again last year when another friend, Jack Dakin, was killed in a car accident last year with his Viola Beach bandmates.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Mo said that he “wouldn’t be here” if it weren’t for Jack after enduring a painful time during his teen years.

He was brought up in care and bullied at school for his love of singing.

But he said: “I would not be here if it wasn’t for Jack, I would have given up on music ages ago, he was the main reason I carried on singing.

“My first band was with him in high school and he was always motivating me when I was sick of the aggro I was getting from the lads for my love of singing.

“He was like, ‘At the end of the day when you leave high school, you’re not going to remember half these people, and in a year’s time you’re going to look back on it and laugh.’ And he was right.”
